Information and Computer Security research is concerned with not only securing systems against cyber-attacks, but also studying ways to mitigate the effects of those attacks that you cannot prevent. The security principles of Confidentiality, Availability, and Integrity guide our research in Cyber Defense, and the need for discovering ways to conduct cyber operations guides our other efforts. Mississippi State University has been certified as a Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education continuously since 2001, as a Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Research continuously since 2008, and was recently certified as a Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Operations in 2013. The more complex systems become, the harder it is to secure them. The Computer Security Research group conducts research to protect our complex systems now and into the future.
