Course Load
The Graduate Catalog has an exhaustive list of the enrollment requirements for graduate students. In general, students should maintain a full-time course load of 9 credit hours to ensure progress in the program where possible; any student under assistanceship must maintain a full-time load in addition to other requirements from the Department. If taking less than a full-time load (e.g., during research periods or summer), students must be enrolled for at least 1 credit hour when they are completing any examination (e.g., M.S. Comprehensive Exams or Ph.D. Defense) or utilizing significant University resources (including faculty time). Thesis and dissertation students who have completed all of their requirements other than completing their thesis/dissertation (post Exam) may enroll in GRD 9011 for reduced tuition while completing their document.
These guidelines do not supplant any other requirements imposed by immigration restraints; please refer to the ISO for additional international student guideliness.
